Less than an hour from Lindstrøm Hotel, explore a remarkable collection of classic cars built from one man's lifelong passion for automobiles.

Many guests at Lindstrøm Hotel have a keen interest in cars. If you're one of them, there's a special place we think you'll enjoy: a unique car museum in Kaupanger, less than an hour from the hotel.

The museum is the result of a lifelong passion for automobiles held by Bjarne Lerum, a third-generation member of the Lerum family. While international visitors may not recognise the name, Lerum is one of Norway’s most beloved producers of fruit juices, jams, and berry products, with roots in the Sognefjord region dating back more than a century.

The story began in 1952, when the Lerum factory purchased its first vehicle, a Ford V8. That car sparked an interest that would stay with Bjarne for the rest of his life.

Over the decades, he carefully collected and restored classic cars from different eras. By the time of his passing in 2010, he had built an impressive collection that today lives on as Bjarne Lerum’s Car Museum in Kaupanger, near Sogndal.

The museum houses a remarkable selection of beautifully restored vehicles and offers visitors a fascinating journey through automotive history. Whether you're a dedicated enthusiast or simply appreciate classic design and craftsmanship, it's well worth a visit during your stay in the Sognefjord region.

For most of the year, the museum is open by appointment only. However, during the summer of 2026, visitors can enjoy regular opening hours, making it easier than ever to stop by. You'll find this summer's opening hours in the image below.
